What a GRP roof costs for your size
One tap: roughly how big the roof is. The answer is a published Irish GRP rate times your area.
Published GRP rate × your roof area
€2,250 to €3,600
30 m² at BookMyRoofer.ie's published €75 to €120 a m² for GRP fibreglass, installed (VAT not stated). Our multiplication, not a quote. At RoofQuote.ie's €80 to €120 a m², it's €2,400 to €3,600.
- If the timber deck underneath has rotted, a new deck adds €30 to €50 a m² (Recommended Roofing).
- A warm roof, with new insulation under the GRP, is published at €130 to €190 a m² (RoofQuote.ie).
- Roofing work on a house is at the 13.5% VAT rate (Revenue). Ask whether the written price includes it.
How this is worked out
The area you pick, times BookMyRoofer.ie's published installed rate a m² for GRP fibreglass. RoofQuote.ie's GRP rate is shown next to it. The multiplication is ours. Rates read on 3 November 2026. Measure the roof's length and width if you can: the labels are rough guides. Small roofs cost more a m² because the trims, outlets and the day's set-up cost the same. It's an estimate, never a quote.
What it is
One sheet, no seams, and you can walk on it
A fibreglass roof is laid wet on the roof itself. The roofer coats a new timber deck with resin, rolls glass fibre mat into it, lets it cure hard, then adds a coloured topcoat and pre-formed GRP trims at the edges. There are no seams or laps to open up, and the cured roof takes foot traffic.
Recommended Roofing specifies GRP where the roof has to be walked on: balconies, roof terraces, bay window tops and dormers. It suits small, detailed roofs well because the corners and upstands are made in the same material as the roof. How a GRP roof is laid goes layer by layer.

Irish flat roofs
Flat roofs in numbers
Most Irish flat roofs aren't the main roof. They're on kitchen extensions, garages, porches, bays and dormers, and many of the older ones are felt. When one is replaced, it's the time to decide on GRP, fix the fall so water runs to the outlet, and add insulation if the room below is heated.
